The West Wall display of art by Artist Joseph R Davis continues to provoke interest and quite a bit of commentary. Joseph creates his images in photoshop using layers of black and white photos as his base and then digitally adding color and original art to the images. Additionally, three separate pieces near the front of the shop show off a more traditional approach to painting. In this instance, three musical instruments are rendered in oil. Please stop by and enjoy the art. This show will close on Sunday.
Stop by Sunday afternoon, when we’re joined by Norman Davis in the shop who will play classical and light jazz pieces for a couple hours. His guitar playing provides a relaxing back drop to the whole wine and cheese experience. The music starts at 3:30PM.
With the holiday season in sight, it’s a good time to take advantage of our current discounts. Purchase any three or more bottles and receive a 10% discount; Purchase a case and receive a 15% discount. Single bottle discounts are always available at the “Orphan Barrel” in the back of the shop. Any bottle on the barrel is 10% off.
Upcoming Events.
Chris Giovannelli, the chef/owner of Cafe Massilia, offers a Wine Dinner on the first Wednesday of each month. The dinner prices vary depending on the region of France on which the meal is based. The next dinner is set for January 7. Only a few seats are left for this dinner which I believe will cost about $65. Call the restaurant at 626-471-3588 for details (Located at 110 E. Lemon Ave).
We are working with Kate Dubost at Dubost Ranch in an effort to put a winemaker evening together in January.
We will host Liz & Marcus Bokisch on February 13 in the shop. They are the Vintners at Bokisch Winery in Lodi and they will be pouring their Spanish varietal line up and meeting with all of our guests who choose to sample their wines that evening.
On Saturday, February 28, Vintner Vic Bourassa of Bourassa Vineyards will be pouring a lineup of their Napa Valley wines as well as hosting an opportunity for a dozen guests to try their hand a blending their own Bordeaux wine.
The Cheese Corner.
We received a quarter wheel of the very popular Barely Buzzed Tuesday morning. We also received a new cheese on Thursday. Pont L’Eveque is a washed rind cow’s milk cheese from Graindorge, France. This cheese has a Camembert like flavor, but bigger and more intense. Naturally, it’s pleasantly smelly (this is either and oxymoron or just tells it like it is to cheese aficionados).
We open at 11:00AM Tuesday through Saturday. Tuesday through Thursday, we close at 8:00PM and Friday and Saturday at 9:00PM. We are open Sunday from noon until 6:00PM . Please remember, we stop pouring 30 minutes before closing. Any questions, please call us at 626-358-6500.
